Proposal Writer

Problem: A major Wall Street Investment firm, frequently prepares marketing proposal documents of several hundred pages for current and new clients. These documents can require the creation of literally hundreds of charts based on proposed portfolio options that can draw from hundreds of available options. Additionally, because this firm must comply with SEC investment disclosure rules, there is the requirement for footnotes that are extremely data-specific.

Solution: Periodically, a database of funds that can be included in a prospective portfolio is automatically updated from syndicated data sources. (The same database as the Periodic Client Portfolio reports uses.)

When a new proposal is needed, a graphics department person indicates a proposed portfolio by picking from the available funds. The name of the prospect is also entered. Then the Proposal Writer creates the entire proposal based on the specified funds and creates charts and returns for the entire proposal. The necessary footnotes are determined automatically from the data and added where appropriate. Live text is added where appropriate based on other data-driven criteria.

The entire process used to take a matter of days prior to automation and was always subject to errors in returns or missed footnotes, especially when funds were added or deleted after the initial input. Then entire process now takes a matter of minutes and the additional need for proof-reading is eliminated since the charts and footnotes are all data-driven.
